  • As I am unable to post the link for her office, it will have to suffice to give you this.  Happy Feast Day, dear Saint Clare.

So sorry this is late, but I had company the entire day.  It's actually 8pm Central time here.

BTW, I belong to the Third Order of St. Francis.  So this is big to me!

  • Blessed Feast Day to you!!--My daughter has an affinity for St Clare which started when she was two and would hold up a pretend monstrance and tell the Saresens to Begone in the Name of the True Body and Blood of our Lord.  :)
We were blessed to see her uncorrupt body in Assissi.  She continues to be an influence in my daughter's life.
I am not alone, for the father is with me.

How wonderful for you and your daughter.  I, too, was in Assisi.  I was with two other girls.  We got to Our Lady of the Angels, and the Basilicas of Ss. Francis and Clare, but we were unable to get to San Damiano due to the timing of the trains.  On the same trip we, of course, were in Rome, and we made a trip over to Cortona to see pay reverence to the incorrupt body of St. Margaret.  I will never forget it.  Thanks for your reply.  BTW, I see you are rather new-- welcome to CathInfo!

  • Thank you for the welcome.  When we arrived, they said that the tomb was closed. My daughter said have faith and prayed aloud, and a little nun came out and unlocked the basement and turned on the lights for her.  Our group was so happy.  We got to see St Margaret (My Gramma's patron) also!
    Rome sure is lovely.

  • Happy Feast Day of St. Clare!

From the tome Kyrie Eleison: Two Hundred Litanies with Historico-Liturgical Introduction and Notes by Rev. Fr. Benjamin Francis Musser, O.F.M. (Westminster, MD: The Newman Bookshop, 1944), here is a Litany in honor of the Seraphic Matriarch of the daughters of St. Francis, the illustrious Virgin St. Clare.

  • A happy feast of St. Clare to all.
Stir up within Thy Church, we beseech Thee, O Lord, the Spirit with which blessed Josaphat, Thy Martyr and Bishop, was filled, when he laid down his life for his sheep: so that, through his intercession, we too may be moved and strengthen by the same Spir

  • Thank you, Hobbledehoy.  Her prayer in honor of the Five Wounds is one of my links.  But yours is much more beautifully presented! I used to say those prayers daily, but have gotten out of the habit.  I think I'll start afresh tonight!  And I'll include your beautiful Litany as well.  BTW, I have the proper hymnes of the breviary for her feast in a Franciscan supplement.  What a treasure our Faith is!  And thank you for sharing so much of what you have in your library.

    You are very welcome.

Give thanks and glory to God almighty and to His Blessed Mother, that you and other interior souls have been given the great grace to belong to the great family of the Seraphic Patriarch, St. Francis of Assisi. Such illustrious progeny! Such great fruit!

    Fun fact:[/color]

It was the Franciscan Friars that converted the heathen peoples of Mexico, who were given the great privilege of receiving the heavenly visitation of the great Mother of God, Our Lady of Guadalupe, as the tilma of the holy Juan Diego testifies.

It was on the 12th of December, centuries later, that the Franciscans were exceedingly rewarded by Our Lady for having been earnest witnesses to her celestial visit and the millions of souls she thereby won for her Divine Son by allowing them to find the sacred relics of the Seraphic Patriarch, St. Francis. The Inventio of his glorious body is observed in the Romano-Seraphic liturgical books on the 12th of December.
