Additional information from Patrick McCarthy who spoke frequently with Miss Haigh during Solange Hertz's lengthy illness:
I know a few personal items about Miss Paula Haigh which might be of interest to fellow Catholics. Although she and Mrs. Solange Hertz never met in person, they viewed each other as sisters in Christ. They kept up their friendship through the years by letters and phone conversations. When Mrs. Hertz had to go into assisted living, they maintained contact – by cell-phone; largely one-way because of Mrs. Hertz’s speech impediment. When Mrs. Hertz was no longer capable of even that, I kept Miss Haigh abreast of her dear friend’s medical condition, including news of Mrs. Hertz’s death earlier this month.
What little I know of Miss Haigh’s biography suggests a veritable pilgrimage to eternal Jerusalem. Her parents were not Catholic and her early life was somewhat chaotic but, as the "Gloria" says, God is present to all “men of good will.” Most emphatically, Miss Haigh was one of those.
These good Catholic women died exactly three weeks apart: October 3rd and October 21st. May they now have each other’s company in the eternal light of the Blessed Trinity.
