Fr Iscara taught me at Holy Cross Seminary in 1989. After only one year he was posted to the US seminary. I always understood he was a history professor before entering the seminary, but perhaps it was simply meant that he was history professor in the Argentine seminary before coming to Australia. In 1990 when I was on pilgrimage I bumped into him very unexpectedly at the Society house in Albano. One hilarious incident that sticks in my mind is when he came out of the chapel after the Easter Vigil. We always had a little celebration in the dining hall after midnight Mass. He started running towards the refectory, half joking (but only half) calling out "meat, meat". It was a big thing for a South American to give up meat for all of Lent! He was always happy, a very jovial, likable priest. I am glad to hear he received the Last Rites. May he rest in peace and pray for us poor wayfarers.
