It's hard to say how old he was. First of all, I think he was a bit of a late vocation. He was in the book business (imagine that!) when he encountered the SSPX seminary in Argentina. His first visit there was to sell them books!
As for his physical appearance, he seemed to have mostly Indian genes (very little Spanish blood) so he didn't have to shave and he had that baby face besides. That makes one look way younger. People with a "baby face" get carded for alcohol in their 40's and beyond.
I have a lot of memories of Fr. Iscara, all of them good. He was a huge Tolkien fan. He got along with +Williamson very well because they shared a real appreciation for the Humanities: art, architecture, literature, history, books, etc. I think he loved music too, though he personally couldn't sing. He was a very cultured and educated man, but also had a very "earthy" side.
