  • I was on a different Traditional Catholic website and they were talking about Bible translations and most were saying they read the Douay Rheims, of course, but there were some that were very much in favor of the RSV. It looks to me like it is a translation of the KJV, why would some consider that a good translation. Any thoughts?

  • As to the question of why some prefer the Revised Standard Version over the Douay-Rheims, I guess you could say it is personal preference.  There is a Catholic version of the RSV, which was translated just before Vatican II, and I have heard of trads using it.  I don't know if it contains errors or not.
