Makes more sense in Spanish.
If you translate the English version it would be like “me ha encomendado aquí…”
Now I see that the “here” is the part that seems off to me.
Wouldn’t “committed me” make more sense?
Like Emile said... Part of the choice of words is to make it an easy rhyme for children to be able to remember.
"Commited me" is past tense in English. The English version of the prayer is in present tense. Therefore, "commits me" is most appropriate.
