  • Sounds like the Roman motivation for the 1984 Indult, Fraternity of St. Peter (and other Indult groups) and, of course, the possible (future) Universal Indult:

We allow the vestments, altars, and candles to remain in use until they are used up or it pleases us to make a change. But we do not oppose anyone who would herein do otherwise. In the true Mass, however, of real Christians, the altar could not remain where it is and the priest must always face the people as doubtless Christ did in the last Supper. But let that await its own time.

    Preface to "The German Mass"

  • Sad but true, the Lutheran assault is most certainly of the same substance as the modern one.  Their tactics are there for all to see, if they will see them.

Do not underestimate the enemy.  Do not fail to identify him, either - which is easily done by many (most) in these days.

Our nearest TLM (100 miles) has only two TLM masses a month.  What are they the rest of the time?

Do you know who offers it?  If it is an Indult, then the NOM is likely said there the other 58 days.  If it is CMRI, for example, it is probably offered in a rented space (hotel, etc.) or in a private house, and nothing else takes place the rest of the time.  I know the CMRI has a presence in KS, although I am not sure the Mass times and locations off the top of my head.

Chant, what makes you think that the FSSP would ever change the vestments, altars, candles, and face the congregation as in the N.O. Missae?

  • 'It's in a church, which undoubtedly offers all the weekday, weekend masses, and only two a month are TLM.'

Sounds like an indult.  I would look for something else.
