We received a prayer request today, that is unlike most prayer requests.
Usually they are regarding job loss, health issues, or things that are completely outside one's control.
But today, we received one from a novus ordo Catholic lady (whose name will be omitted) who said she wants to have a child, but her and her husband seem to be unable to have children now. She said she has been trying for 3 years to start a family, out of 8 years of marriage and "13 years together".
So she's the latest victim of the birth control industry -- so many women think fertility extends until menopause -- no, it's a slow decline that begins in your early 20's. I've heard so many cases like this:
Met him at 20
Married him at 25
Enjoyed "couple life" for 4 years
Tried to have kids at 29 -- but found out we can't have kids.
Optional: Had one or two kids by in vitro feritilization
(expensive!)
Gave up on having (more) kids.
Women think mankind has evolved or something to the point that fertility extends longer, in proportion to life expectancy: "you can have kids at 50 now -- I heard of one or two cases -- no problem!" but what they DON'T see is the expense and risk associated with getting pregnant artificially at 50.
If anything, with all the Soy products, hormones in our food, etc. making girls go through puberty at 8 years old, the clock starts ticking much sooner than it used to.
