I fell in the snow earlier and broke my arm. A neighbor took me to the hospital. It is not a terrible break. They splinted it, gave me Vicodin, and sent me home. I have to call a orthopedist tomorrow to see about getting a permanent cast. I was in a lot of pain, but am much happier now with the meds. I am right-handed, and tat is the arm I broke. I won't post much for awhile, because typing with my left hand only is very annoying. My children are taking good care of me, but I would appreciate your prayers.
Also, I know from previous injuries and surgeries that opiates make me really loopy. So if I post something about embracing Arianism or becoming a Muslim, please remember that it is the Vicodin talking.

Yikes Sigs. {{{hug}}}
Thank God your kids are there, I know you do already.

Please be assured of my prayers!
A family's warm smiles are better than Vicodin.

Thanks. I am assuming the person who up-thumbed my initial post wasn't pleased I broke my arm.

Added: I posted this and then proceeded to pray grace before meals. Sometimes I amaze myself. I added other prayers in case grace doesn't cover broken arms.

Sorry, got around to this late, will start praying.

I just read this and pray you are adjusting to that oh-so-enjoyable recovery phase.
A thumbs up for using complete sentences and proper punctuation despite your one-handedness. : )

Get well soon, Sigi!

Are you dipping into my Vicodin?
I have been able to back off on the Vicodin somewhat as the pain has lessened. I go to the orthopedist tomorrow, so that may change. When I was on the maximum dosage I am allowed to take, I was pretty loopy. I usually say the Divine Office, but that much concentration was beyond me. I decided to say the whole rosary instead of my usual 5 decades, but often found myself saying the grace before meals or some other prayer instead of Pater's and Ave's.

I refuse to type like some illiterate texting teenager even when I have an excuse.
And thanks to everyone for their prayers and best wishes.
Time for more pain meds, so I will get off the internet now

 Prayers for continued healing!

It seems that my injury is more serious than I thought. I will have surgery tomorrow to align the bones. A temporary pin will be installed. It will be an outpatient procedure.

No meds needed, I'm naturally loopy.
Prayers for a successful surgery forthwith.

Me too. I wish I had Vicodin as an excuse for my inadvertent tomfoolery and clumsiness. It is only on account of the Providence of God that I have not killed myself accidentally so many times at the construction sites. I am totally unsuited for construction work, but I have to do something in order to satisfy my habits (like eating, living indoors, having utilities, &c.).

The surgery went okay. I had to go back to the hospital later in the evening to have the cast adjusted. When I am more coherent I want to post a rant about the TV program on in the waiting room. I have not watched broadcast TV for many years, and had no idea how bad things have gotten.
I am in a fair amount of pain now. I alternate between thanking God for a cross to bear and saying, "Okay, Lord, I am fine with being a bit less holy now."

I got my cast off today. I am wearing a removable splint as needed. The doctor says the bone is completely and perfectly healed. The muscles in my arm are very stiff from lack of use, and I don't have much more mobility than I had with the cast. I will start physical therapy on Friday.
Thanks again for all the prayers.

Glad you're doing well, Sigismund.
God Bless.

It turns out physical therapy is not much fun.
On the plus side, (sort of) I am taking vicodin again, which has done away with my insomnia. The course of therapy will last at least a month, with four self-directed sessions per day. I have to see the therapist once a week. She assures me things will get easier. I hope I will soon be able to say the rosary with my right hand again.
