  • He just lost his job last week.  He has 3 kids with #4 due in 6 weeks and they have very little in savings and now without insurance they have no way to pay for the birth.  Her ob/gyn does not accept the type of insurance that state offers to the unemployed so now she can't even see a doc.  Fortunately this pregnancy has been normal so far.

  • Your son will be in my prayers.

Why not consider a midwife for a home birth? Most midwifery places accept state insurance, I believe, and the cost associated with it are considerably less expensive, not to mention many other benefits....
If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

Cantarella took the words right out of my mouth.
I have a relative who is a nurse, her specialty brings her into home birth situations.  Due to the joy and success she's witnessed over the years, she has been having her children at home also.
    It's worth researching.

In the meantime, and most importantly,

  • I just had a second home birth, so I'm all in favor of that, but don't expect it to be covered by state insurance. Check and see, but you usually have to pick a doctor from their list and midwives are probably not on the list. Even without insurance, it might still be an option to consider as the cost is only ~$3,000 (at least in this area).

Prayers for your son and his family.

  • Their midwife wanted something more than 2K, which they don't have, that's why they went with an ob/gyn that their insurance would cover.  Her first 2 pregnancies were considered "high risk" so she had to go to the hospital, everything was fine with the 3rd and had a midwife been financially feasible they would have used her, ditto with #4.  My DIL does a natural birth and they do not vaccinate any of their kids, never have,  my son is very forceful with them on that one!

Thank you for all your prayers, this is an incredibly stressful time for them.

There are midwifes that will accept payment plans and also offer a discount if it is paid in cash (usually the 10%).

    Got it.
The "high risk" factor is an important consideration, and they know the home birth route.

Marsha, not to be intrusive, but may I ask your son's work background?  I know a good recruiter in that area.  It could be a longshot, but worth looking into if his background can fit an opening.
