Prayers for Van

  • Please say some prayers for us and our van.  We had the oil pump replaced recently and the last 2 Sundays it has broken down on the way back from Mass.  We towed it to the original shop that did the work on it last Sunday but they fixed something small and said it was all better.  So, we are having it towed to an actual Honda shop today.

We never had any major issues with it before the oil pump was replaced and we are worried that something might have been damaged at the shop when they were putting things back together for the oil pump.  It only has about 85k miles on is and we still have 3 1/2 years of the loan to pay for it.

Anyhow...  Prayers would be greatly appreciated.  A friend ours is worried that the master computer may be failing and if that happens we might have to get a different van and pay 2 car loans.

Hopefully the inspection should go fine.

Did you use manufacturer or aftermarket parts with the original shop? Sometimes aftermarket can be the only feasible option though.

Perhaps it was a seal or a gasket?

I have no idea what was used...  But the original car shop did say something about ordering the wrong part twice...and the fix was only supposed to take 3 days but took over a week.  I guess that is suspicious. 😅

The car had "check charging system" come on and the battery light.  The the ABS and slippery road lights came on.  Then all the lights on the dashboard and gauges started going crazy and completely went out.  And then the van stopped working completely.

The first time it happened on the freeway.  The 2nd time in town.  Trying to shuffled 4 little boys and get back home in a different vehicle has been exciting. Oh...  And we have a new battery.  😅

  • If a gasket is required, have it in writing.  Some states allow for silicon to be used instead of gasket.  Silicon holds up for maybe 6 months and breaks down.

As for the Honda, good news! My husbands cousins husband worked for Honda dealerships throughout the US.  He says that the engine should last 300,000 miles!

We have a Honda Pilot at 100,000 and she is a 2006.  So, hold on to a good vehicle.

Hopefully they check the parts and the installation and make sure it has been done right. They have obviously spent time trying to fix the problem so here's hoping their work is mostly good and just needs some revision.

A new battery should help with that warning light

Oh!  Good suggestions! Thank you!  :cowboy:

Our last Honda, made it up very high in mileage before it died.  It is a good van over all.  Just hoping it isn't something very big wrong with it.  We only got it (used) last May and still have quite a bit to pay off.  It has been a great van over all until this complication. 😅

There's an easy and zero cost way to fix the master computer. Would you like to know?

Is that a passive "yes"? Is your pride too much for you to give a direct answer and admit you'd appreciate help from me - a "troll"? :smirk:

It is my husband's domain to decide about the van not mine.  My job is to pray and make the cookies.  ;)

Really? Is that why you posted a thread about it? ;)

Yep.  I asked for prayers not a diagnosis. 😅
