Prayers for sickness slow-burning through family
« on: August 24, 2023, 01:36:03 PM »
We have a bout of sickness slow-burning its way through my entire family.
Never more than 2-3 kids sick at any time. But as soon as a couple are on the mend, a couple more come down with it. We're on the third round now, with a couple stragglers (and both parents) still untouched by it.

I'm kind of nervous because my wife and I haven't had it yet, and we have Mass here this Sunday! I'm the altar server, as well as the coordinator.
I'm just wondering who is going to be sick this Sunday. Hopefully no one, but we'll see.

We could use some prayers.

The sickness is tame enough; sore throat, fever, and sleeping for about a whole day. It seems to last 2-3 days, with the worst of it behind you after about 36 hours.

If it's so contagious, I don't know why it doesn't spread to more people at once. Why the slow burn?

It's amazing that any illness could spread when the temperature is 100 degrees outside. But I guess having the windows shut all day with the A/C on is about the same as having the windows shut during the winter with the heat on.

Is it possible that there's mold, maybe even black mold, in your home, which can even live in things such as AC units?

In any case,

I've had a few of those run through my family.  It's some function of the incubation period and how much various kids come into contact with other kids.  So, for instance, the kids who shared a bedroom would get each other sick quicker than the kids who might be in a different bedroom or even on a different story of the house.
