…She has received Extreme Unction, professed the traditional Faith vigorously when she was at her senses, and is at peace in her soul. All we can do now is wait and pray.…
I ask everyone's prayers for my mother, who just turned 93 in November, and is receiving hospice care in our home. She had a bad incident the last of November (just after her birthday), spent several days in hospital, seemed to have recovered, then relapsed and fell ill just after New Year's Day. She is heavily medicated for reasons of comfort, has pretty much quit taking nutrition (she aspirates much of it), and barely knows she is in the world, sleeps almost nonstop, when she awakes and tries to talk, it is just incoherent babbling. She is receiving excellent care and is kept clean and comfortable. The nurse tells me that the end will come any day now.Dear SimpleMan, Thank you for letting us know. Prayers for all the family. God Bless you.
Up until about three weeks ago, she was an incredibly mentally agile lady, very articulate and intelligent, and could carry on extended conversation and had a sharper mind than a woman one-third her age. Then after New Year's, she just cratered very suddenly and has declined day by day.
She has received Extreme Unction, professed the traditional Faith vigorously when she was at her senses, and is at peace in her soul. All we can do now is wait and pray.
Prayers appreciated, as well as for my son (16), who is not handling this all that well. We are just doing what homeschool we can for the duration.

Thank you so much. I have printed these out and shall use them.So hard Simple Man. God Bless you during these unbearable times.
I called the hospice nurse to come this evening (not her usual day), and she has placed my mother on daily visits going forward (they normally come once a week). My mother can no longer take food or drink without aspirating it. All I can do is sponge her mouth with wet swabs as needed. For the time being, only liquid painkillers are recommended, and her other pills have been discontinued, in that the risk of aspirating them is greater than any benefit they might afford.
My mother is sleeping almost nonstop, and doesn't appear to be aware of anything. They are telling me that the end of this life may come in hours or days.
I'll keep everyone here posted.

My dear mother passed away peacefully in her sleep about a half-hour ago. She did not suffer. As her soul prepared to leave her body, I placed the Brown Scapular on her, blessed her sick bed with holy water, and placed a crucifix on her breast. My son and I are fine.Requiescat in pace! :incense::pray:
Please pray for the repose of her soul.

A Prayer For Deceased ParentsO God, who hast commanded us to honor our father and our mother, in Thy mercy have pity on the souls of my father and mother, and forgive them their trespass, and make me to see them again in the joy of everlasting Brightness. Through Christ Our Lord. Amen(Roman Breviary)
Son and I are doing okay. I had to go to the funeral home today to sign the papers (we had pre-need, saved a ton of money that way), and as it turns out, the funeral director, just a young woman, was raised in a fairly conservative Novus Ordo home and was very favorably disposed to the TLM. I invited her to visit. She, too, is troubled by Francis. I explained to her how the Novus Ordo came to be, and I mentioned Bugnini, though I didn't bring up the alleged Freemason business. She's not old enough to remember the TLM. My mother's illness and demise has given me a lot of "teachable moments" with her various caregivers, hospital staff, and so on. I am very much a "people person" IRL, and it's easy for me to talk to people about the Church and the TLM. The FD and I must have talked for an hour and a half today.Thank you for the update. We will be praying for you and your son during this time of sorrow. And continue praying for the repose of your mother.
After my mother is laid to rest on Monday, my son is wanting to get away from the house for a couple of days, so we are visiting a small town he likes about a half-hour from here, find some hotel with his beloved breakfast bar and, ideally, an indoor pool. To tell the truth, I want to get away too, the house is a bit too quiet with my mother gone.
