  • Hello all, I ardently implore all here for the prayers of one of the best, most knowldegable and helpful posters here, our friend Hobbledehoy.

I know some of you will wonder why, and in all honesty he is going through a a trial in his live now, he had a nervous breakdown and was on the verge of ѕυιcιdє, and that he may or may not return to CathInfo. He also wants everyone to know that if he ever was closer to attempting ѕυιcιdє than recently the other night, he will make sure to go to the ER.

Prayers for our dear and helpful friend.

  • I know Sig- me too.

He's lost enough weight to have to make two new holes on his belt :/ .

I say we all go out and find one of the litanies he's taken the time to upload for us, and devote some prayers for his welfare.

Yes, the devil is going about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour, but Our Lady is the answer to all your fears, all your worries, all your temptations.

Keep up your defenses, or rather, strengthen your defenses.  Read True Devotion by St. Louis Marie de Montfort who gives us a devotion like no other for our time.  The devil did all he could to hide this devotion from the Faithful for years, but Our Lady willed that this devotion be made known to her faithful sons and daughters.

If you will have ears to hear and eyes to see, read the book, but a word of warning: Take on this devotion only if you are truly willing to continue to practice it for life.  Read the book to know why I say that.

A blessed First Saturday to you all.  Have you meditated for 15 minutes on the Mysteries of the Rosary?  I'm reminding myself, too!

Hobblehoy, your good friends here at Cathinfo are praying for you.  Here's a little prayer that helps me: Jesus, I believe in Thee, strengthen my unbelief.  My Jesus, I hope and trust in Thee through Mary for the graces that I need to persevere.  Increase my hope.  Jesus, I love Thee.  Increase my Love.

I'm sure there's a better prayer than my own that would have an indulgence.  Anyone?  Oh, wait, you're the one with the great book of prayers.  Can you find a short prayer for an increase in Faith, Hope and Charity that is indulgenced for me and your friends here?  Thanks!

Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

  • Hobblehoy,
I hope that you have contacted a priest.  If not, please make an appointment with one.  Be assured that if he has been a priest for more than a week, you are not the first one who has contacted him with a similar dilemma. If he has been a priest for at least a year, he will have helped many before you.  If he has been a priest for 10 years.... well, you get the picture.  Depression is more common now than ever before. Many have their theories as to the why, and a doctor can help with the why, and may I suggest that you call your priest now and your doctor next?

Your fellow Catholics are praying for you.
    Sincerely,
    ora pro me

  • P.S. Why do some of you express disbelief? Depression can happen to any of us.  None of us are immune to it. Strengthen your defenses.  Educate yourself on how to resist depression but if it happens to you, seek help before it gets more serious.  I have seen many people helped by their priests and helped also by holistic as well as "Western Medicine".  Seek help at the first signs of depression.

    A blessed day to all.

  • Absolutely.  Sanctity is no guarantee that you will never experience mental illness, just as it is no guarantee you won't experience physical illness.

    Any news about him?

  •   Please take care Hobbledehoy. Our prayers are with you. I hope you will see a priest and a doctor. If you find there is a physical element, as much as I love wholistic healing, it can take a little longer sometimes to figure out and treat, plus it is more expensive, so there's no shame in using a little western medicine to tide you over, if you need it, until other forms of healing have time to kick in.

  • It could be a vitamin deficiency. I have a family member that was deeply depressed, and when she took B6 and B12, she began to get better.

Please consider this. There are many natural remedies for depression that are largely ignored by "Western medicine."
