I have mentioned a 17 year old cousin of mine who is severely mentally ill. I have just received word that he has been hospitalized after a serious incident of self-harm. This does not seem to have been a ѕυιcιdє attempt. He has a history of cutting himself, but this has not happened in about two years. This has always been a response to severe stress or even psychosis. My son, who is a Byzantine priest, visited him and gave him the Sacraments. He says the rosary faithfully and has a devotion to St. Francis. Please pray for him and his parents and siblings.

He did, Thanks. He is better today. He has a history of terrible abuse prior to his adoption by my relatives. I some ways it is a miracle that he is here at all.

My cousin came home on Thursday and attended the Divine Liturgy at my son's parish today. He went to confession, received Holy Communion, and received the long list of blessings and prayers the Byzantine rite has to offer. It was very good to see him looking like himself again.

Thank you for your prayers, especially since you had to do some digging to find it. He really wants to be a Franciscan brother. He is too young to seriously pursue this, and I don't know that any order could consider him with his mental health challenges. He is very attracted to a small group of brothers in an inner city area in a city some distance away.
