  • I don't know if this is something left over from my Novus Ordo days or not, but I felt strongly that I need to post this here.

As a NO Catholic, I had a very shallow prayer life.  I was never really encouraged otherwise.  I had never heard of many of the saints or many of the titles and apparitions of Our Blessed Mother.

Since arriving to traditional Catholicism, I am either being chastised in confession for not praying enough or at Mass we are being reminded how important our prayer life is.  As such, I have begun to prayer more and more fervently.  That has made a huge change in my life.

Most specifically, our family was suffering under a difficult trial that I just won't go into.  I prayed 2 Novenas--one to St. Joseph and another to Our Lady of Good Success.  Logically, the outcome should have been poor, but Our Mother and Her Spouse presented us with a miraculous outcome.  While I know that there are no guarantees that our prayers will be answered, I am most grateful and thankful that Our Lord saw fit to answer them through the intercession of St. Joseph and His Mother.

I've been criticized a lot by our Novus Ordo friends because of our "defection." But I can measure how different my life is.  I can see changes in me and my family.  More fervent prayer is only one of those things.

And as another reward, my mother, who is 72 and a hardened Southern Baptist, has learned the Rosary, prays with us in the evenings, and has begun, when no one is looking, to read my Missal.  Please pray that she has a conversion.

  • Actually, I think God wanted me to see this. My schedule at work was changed a few months ago. Ever since then, I get home a few hours later, when we would usually say our family Rosary. While I still manage to say my rosary on my drive to and from work, I've failed as a leader of my family to still carry on my rosary on a daily basis with my wife and children recently.

The reason this pertains to this, is my mother-in-law usually stays with our family a week at a time, every other week or so, and would sit quietly knitting on the couch when we said our rosary more regularly. She's an apostate, having minimally grown up with the faith in Holland, and left it in her teens. I feel much shame right now. Thank you CMo7. You've shown me what I need to do.
