Title: Prayer Request - Military Deployment
Post by: bibleandprayers on October 05, 2017, 06:33:07 AM
Hi everyone, I would like to ask you to pray with me for my mother who is currently deployed in Afghanistan and was sent on a 3 week secluded mission. May God ensure her safe return! Thank you.

I'll offer prayers, but is your mother an actual soldier, or is she a nurse, or something like that?

Whether she be a nurse or not,
Heads Up,  the "catholic Taliban " exists right here on this very forum.
' cause I'm a trad. dad who is proud of his daughter who wears PANTS whilst on duty as a nurse.
Oh , she also wears pants at the shooting range.
Hope your mother returns safe and well.
Cheers,
Out.

It was an innocent question, and so one born of ignorance.

Has it become impossible to drop our respective axes, and just simply pray sans agendas?

Also, perhaps a trad would, or at least should, know that there may be very good cause to request specifics; for example, praying for specific intentions, for the intercession of particular saints, angels etc.

You're proud, that's fine but just shut up and say an ave; it isn't that hard, and then maybe tell everyone about your girl,
"Molly Molly axen free."

Thank you for this.
Yw, and I appreciate the sentiment, but it's a duty; thank God please, instead, if good is done in spite of crude instrumentation.

Proud dad... we don't have to be one to get that; who can't "mea culpa" to having more familial zeal than brains?

Worried son, easy to get too.

"Ave Maria..."

A least I prayed a decade of the Rosary yesterday, and will do so again today for Martin's mother. I don't see that you offered to say prayers for her.

I have a lot of respect for those who serve in the military, since most of the men in my family have served. However, it's not a good idea for women to be involved in combat. For obvious reasons, though you probably wouldn't understand that.

thank you for your prayers, a lot of you have been asking if she is a soldier or a nurse, there is no difference here, everyone deployed are trained in combat, overgo same basic training regardless of their position (as long as its not special forces or officer level). She is a nurse right now helping in a make-shift tent in a middle of a desert, nothing fancy or safe about that. Again, thank you for your prayers!

Not to worry you overmuch, for you likely are aware, but be it a jungle or a sandpit, over strat-scale time things like disease and parasites are a more probable threat.

Critters are everywhere, and impossible to entirely avoid, let alone eliminate.

I only say this for perspective and to foster a greater appreciation. You speak of training' well, by and large most milspec schooling isn't anywhere near as long or involved as the medical variety. with jobs like ODA/ODD medics, docs and PAs being of course an exception because they actually at minimum do time in civilian trauma as part of their training.

Then there is the mass of crap medic types have to carry, generally second only to heavy weapons.

Bottom line? Someone who says things like "just a medic" doesn't really know what they're talking about.

Bags of liquid aren't light.

To Bibleandprayers:  My own son spent years in  Afghanistan and it was prayers like you are asking for that brought him home safely.
