  • Seeing all the prayer requests for those who are suffering, I feel a bit petty asking this, but today I was presented with a potentially wonderful job opportunity, and I would be so grateful for prayers.  This could be an incredible blessing if it all works out.

The job is full time nanny position for my daughter’s pediatrician.  They have four young children and their current nanny just gave notice she is taking a different job. They are really in need of someone flexible before the school year begins, so if it works out I will have to put in notice soon.

I would be able to bring my daughter with me, so even if the pay ends up being lower than what I make now, I would not have the major expense of daycare.  More importantly, she wouldn’t have to be a day-orphan anymore.

I have been praying for a long time for a better work arrangement, so I want to believe this is meant to be.  I am meeting with the family between jobs tonight, so hopefully it will go well.  I am incredibly nervous, but very excited.

  • Sounds like a great opportunity, Penitent.   I will pray to St Joseph for you for your success in getting this job.  St Joseph cared for all the material needs of the Holy Family, and he works wonders in this department.

  • Prayers for your job possibility, PW!

I wanted to toss this out there in case you or anyone is interested...

I just listened to a webinar from Home Educating Family Association (they call themselves HEDUA, but they're so broad now that I don't even know what that stands for). Anyhow, when they need assistance with anything -- especially things which can be done remotely -- they prefer to hire stay-at-home / homeschooling moms to do the work. What was mentioned in the webinar was that presently they're looking for some help with data entry into their new cloud software, MyWellPlannedDay.com. But, I'm sure they have various ongoing needs which change regularly.

As soon as they mentioned this, they immediately had webinar participants asking how they could let them know they're available, and they said to send them a message on their facebook page (www.facebook.com/mywellplannedday) with a name and email address. If anyone wishes to do so, I'd recommend including a small note as to what sorts of work you'd be capable of doing, since while tons of people can do data entry, only so many are qualified for other things.

I don't know if they have a website overviewing the company in general, but they make printed planners geared toward homeschooling/homemaking, they put out a quarterly homeschooling magazine, they have a newish website called homeschoolconvention.com and now they are about to officially release online planning software at mywellplannedday.com. (That sounded like an advertisement. No, I don't work for them.  )

  • The marvelous Providence wherewith the Great Little King, the Miraculous Infant Jesus of Prague, ordains all things with such sweetness and elegance for the greater welfare of His devout servants cannot be adequately expressed in human language.

I strongly urge you and everyone to have recourse to the Divine Infant.

Here is the Litany of the Miraculous Infant Jesus of Prague from the book Kyrie Eleison: Two Hundred Litanies with Historico-Liturgical Introduction and Notes by Rev. Fr. Benjamin Francis Musser, O.F.M. (Westminster, MD: The Newman Bookshop, 1944):

  • Thank you!!!

They basically offered it to me already but I didn't have much time tonight so we are meeting again Saturday to go over details. The beautiful children are 7,5,4 and 2.

The schedule is a little crazy, but certainly better than what I've got going now.  I would be responsible for 2-3 meals a day (yay!) running some errands, and some of the kid's activities and school functions. They seem like a busy, (but very  nice) family. The children all loved my daughter...it was very cute.

Thank you again, everyone, for the prayers. I am truly blessed.

  • Mater, that sounds like a neat opportunity.

Hobbledehoy, thank you so much for posting those prayers.

  • They are extremely fortunate to have gotten you.  It's a huge job so I am praying you are well enough compensated.  Also, they need to allow you to get to Mass.  This is a perfect type of employment for a Catholic lady!  :rahrah:  It's so good that they aren't uptight about you bringing your baby along- it's a wise move, because it ensures a higher level of safety and commitment, etc.

Thank you. I have butterflies in my stomach because it will be a huge step to walk away from my main (day) job. I wasn't expecting anything to come up this suddenly, but I just need to have faith that this came about for a reason.

I also feel a bit guilty about quitting my night job, even though I was planning to be done soon for moral reasons. I feel guilty because the other waitress I trade babysitting with is going to have a really hard time finding a replacement that can be there until 3 in the morning.  I would keep doing it, but I am not sure she can afford to pay me, as right now we just do an even trade.  I know she struggles financially like I do, so I may just volunteer until she figures something out.

I think I would really love being a nanny.  I know it will be wonderful to have my daughter with me. Even if we are running around a lot, it is still better than daycare. Apparently they have an SUV for me to take everyone around.  Lots of carseats!

I am curious what you mean by allowing me to get to mass.  As in daily mass?  I have not found a daily TLM within a reasonable driving distance.  As far as I know they won't need me on Sundays.

The children go to parochial school (technically the same one I went to, but a new building) and apparently their previous nanny went to the weekly student mass when the parents couldn't make it.  I would really like to do that, so I wonder if it would be okay because it would be part of my job.

  • Once I was a live-in nanny but ended up being a slave.  Well, at least I learned what тαℓмυdism is in practice, and ended up getting out.  :laugh1:   The other families were absolutely wonderful, loving, but I had to learn from my mistake.

A lot of big wig power-couples live in my area.  The wife may be an important somebody, but the dirty little secret is they oppress the women who work in their homes worse than men ever did.

So, it was hard to get to Mass.  They were so cheap if I had a baby they would have charged me rent!  If I ate anything the kids would tell their dad I was stealing.
