  • Does anyone know of any good books that have novenas, prayer rules, chaplets, or offices in them? I want to say more sets of prayers since I have more time on my hands now and I want to pray something other than the rosary since my prayer life at the moment is mostly memorized prayers, prayers from the top of my head, and the rosary. I like the idea of chaplets or offices or whatever you call them because it is less distracting than just saying a lot of prayers throughout the day. I also am interested in a book with novenas in it because just turning some pages would be less distracting than going to a website that has them.

  • My Prayer Book by Father Lasance gives you a good place to start as it teaches how to spread out your devotions so you don't get stale or bored.
You will need more than one book.

For chaplets...24 Rosaries and Chaplets  50 cents
    .

For novenas, Catholic Family Book of Novenas  about $25.00

When adding devotions don't try to do everything.  Might I suggest

Monday............The Poor souls in Purgatory...........Beads for the Dead
    Tuesday........... The Angels.................................St. Michael Chaplet
    Wednesday.......St. Joseph..................................St. Joseph Chaplet
    Thursday..........The Blessed Sacrament................Blessed Sacrament Beads
Friday.............. The Passion...............................Stations of the Cross and VII Sorrows Rosary
Saturday..........Blessed Mother............................Litany of Loretto and Immaculate Conception Chaplet
Sunday............The Blessed Trinity.......................Infant King (Prague) Chaplet

In addition to sanctifying the day, you can also sanctify the month to keep your devotions fresh.

    January        The Holy Infancy
    February        The Holy Family
    March            St. Joseph
April               The Holy Ghost (also The Passion for Lent)
    Mary              Blessed Mother
    June               Sacred Heart
    July                 Precious Blood
    August            Immaculate Heart of Mary
September       Holy Cross and Sorrowful Mother
    October           The Angels
    November        Poor Souls in Purgatory
    December        The Nativity
