Thanks. Just need prayers. It is the same old problem renewing itself from time to time. Each time I meet a convert who is a good choice, class differences and all types of divisions show up.
I know I have opened too many threads about a single issue.

Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

  •   One of the things that makes a man lose many opportunities is refusing to go to the 2 years of military service. It is not a crime. But it limits you in many ways. for example you won't be able to get a driving license.
Now he says that he won't go to the military service as they force the trainees and soldiers to pray the 5 daily moslem prayers there. (actually when one hides his conversion they expect him to pray.)
But my father is insisting on his having a license....
    Please pray for us.
Especially that my family may accept him as he is, with all the troubles and limitations that his faith and social status cost him.

     :surprised:
The laws in your country continue to surprise me.

  • Actually, in a Catholic country, I think that would be a pretty good law, as well as a requirement to pray the Rosary in groups in the military (which was common in Catholic armies in the old days).

  •   Actually MaterDominici, it is not limited to laws, many times one has to struggle with customs and social conventions that are even more strictly held than laws.
We don't leave the home at 18 and we do obey our parents even as adults. My father still does what his mother says even though he is 50 something!
The law doesn't object to inter-class or interracial marriages but if parents say no, it means no.
The older generation has both the legal right and culturally acceptable ways to force it's values on the younger one.  :geezer:  :king:

  • Sounds very macho  :stare:

    Sorry, couldn't resist.
Readers: Please IGNORE all my postings here. I was a recent convert and fell into errors, even heresy for which hopefully my ignorance excuses. These include rejecting the "rhythm method," rejecting the idea of "implicit faith," and being brieflfy quasi-Jansenist. I also posted occasions of sins and links to occasions of sin, not understanding the concept much at the time, so do not follow my links.

  •   If it is the case, the I was a macho.
I remember how I despised the lower classes in my heart,
I remember how I was proud of my race, mocking the awful way minorities spoke our language,
I remember how I scoffed at ladies whose husbands were 2 or 3 months younger than them!
I remember how I was fascinated with bulky men and called slimy ones effeminate,
And then I found a sincere faith in someone having all things I used to despise.
Only the faith can explain my bizarre choice. I know it is natural for people to object.
It is why I need prayer.
The guy is struggling with despair, thinking I am choosing him out of pity.
(sorry to bump this thread, just needed to remind you of our need for your prayers. I know I look like I am making a fuss but i have no other choices)

  • How I regret the virtues I ceased to practice!
How I regret the prayers I stopped saying!
How sorry am I for the sins I committed recently!
Alas things that used to feel me with horror are now normal for me!
A thousand times I denied His laws with my lips and actions...
A thousand times I cursed myself and others and felt angry at Him...
    And why?
Because in order to prove to my parents I am tough, strong, logical and "grown up" I had to do and say many nasty things or else they would say that I was an "emotional girl living in fairy tales" and therefore unsuitable for marriage.
So I lied and lied and lied deciding tell the truth as soon as I could leave them, but those lies became a part of me after a while.
It is as if I confronted Jesus and told Him to go out of my heart or nobody would take me serious as an adult.
