  • Just wondering what your thoughts are on Pope Pius XII. For years, all I heard about him was “He was our last great Pope!” , and of course his famous quote with part that reads “Christians one day will search in vain for the red lamp where God awaits them. etc.”  Yet for many years now I have felt disgust for a Pope who really started the liturgical destruction. (Or should I say, kicked into high gear). I keep wondering how one would even explain the actions, of this so called “conservative” pope.

That book should be burned! It falsely accuses Venerable Pius IX of being a Free Mason.
For what doth it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and suffer the loss of his own soul? Or what exchange shall a man give for his soul?

  • Personal opinion: he was the last true Catholic Pope, but I wouldn't call him great. He was fairly weak as a Pope and a ton of the things that sprouted during Vatican II were made by those under his watch. He should have done like St. Pius X and rooted out all Modernist heretics as soon as they reared their heads, but instead he appointed some of them to key positions that would prove favorable to the Great Apostasy that would come after his death.

That said, I believe he was a devout and pious man worthy of admiration. But, he was not what I would call an exemplar of the Papacy.
"Be not therefore solicitous for tomorrow; for the morrow will be solicitous for itself. Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof." [Matt. 6:34]

"In all thy works remember thy last end, and thou shalt never sin." [Ecclus. 7:40]

"A holy man continueth in wisdom as the sun: but a fool is changed as the moon." [Ecclus. 27:12]

  • Pope Pius XII, in my opinion was not only weak, that is where was his back bone, but I don't see him as holy.  In the book" Dignity and Duties of the Priesthood, Pius XII would have been seen as not holy.  When Our Lady begs!! for consecration and Pope Pius XII changes words from Russia to World, man!  What do you call that! Not holy and pleasing to God.
