Here is an exerpt from a speech on the house floor by Congresswoman Kaptur.

"Don't leave your home. Because you know what? When those companies say they have your mortgage, unless you have a lawyer that can put his or her finger on that mortgage, you don't have that mortgage, and you are going to find they can't find the paper up there on Wall Street."  Possession is nine-tenths of the law, therefore, stay in your property. Get proper legal representation ... [if] Wall Street cannot produce the deed nor the mortgage audit trail ... you should stay in your home. It is your castle. It's more than a piece of property. ... Most people don't even think about getting representation, because they get a piece of paper from the bank, and they go, 'Oh, it's the bank,' and they become fearful, rather than saying: 'This is contract law. The mortgage is a contract. I am one party. There is another party. What are my legal rights under the law as a property owner?"

"If you look at the bad paper, if you look at where there's trouble, 95 to 98 percent of the paper really has moved to five institutions: JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Wachovia, Citigroup and HSBC. They have this country held by the neck."

 We have been praying for months--novena's, St. Joseph, etc--but it seems if all our prayers have gone unanswered.  

Something I've learned about St.Joseph (when it took him a month to fully grant my request), is that you sometimes gotta give him time to give you what you want or what's good for you. So Im pretty sure he's working on it. Of course I dont mean stop praying, but try and be patient and keep your confidence in God.

I too will pray for Cathmom and her family. I hope you will find whatever solution God provides to you.

However, I also have it in my mind that the payment of just debts is required by the Seventh Commandment.  I'm not trying to judge anyone's situation from afar, but one must work out the dangers for one's self.

Also, I would point out that if every one were to use this loophole to avoid payment, the economic health of the nation would suffer a mortal stroke, and it's hanging on by a thread as it is.  We will all become beggars in the worst case scenario.

May not be of much help to you as it's a British site, but www.moneysavingexpert.com is a fantastic resource for all manner of money-related issues and may give some good pointers.

  So sad. Just make sure that your children aren't affected by your stress. It may cause problems later. And if you are expecting, then too much stress can lead to birth defects.
  You don't need anybody to teach you about this. But I was just worried about emotional side of problem.
