  • My father is recovering very quickly and doing well. Thank you for all of your prayers. I'm hoping this takes care of whatever cancerous issues he was having in his bowels.

I tried to respond to your thread the other day and couldn't, but I wanted to suggest a green scapular for your Dad--if you haven't already given him one? If there is any nonsense or outright hostile reluctance to his receiving it, you can always hide it in a flower pot, sew it into clothing if possible, put it under his mattress boxspring, that kind of thing. Or you can ask him if he would carry it in his wallet and if he says, "No," you can still hide it. There would be no sin in doing so, and it's not a talisman or lucky charm, but the goal is to have it nearby/on the person because it would be blessed by a Priest. (And of course anything blessed is a sacramental).

The green scapular does NOT require any sort of "enrollment" like the brown scapular does--just a simple blessing from a Priest will suffice for it.

The green scapular is very powerful for conversions and bringing people back to the Faith. If you are friendly terms with each other, would he accept one from you as a reminder that you "are thinking of him (and praying for him)?" It might set some people off, and others not. You know what would or would not work that way.

In any event, you would need to say the little prayer for him daily (for his conversion/reversion, whatever the case is), "Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death."

You could also sew a Miraculous Medal on the green scapular for more-bang-for-your-buck, or, better yet, ask him to wear it! Maybe get him a decent quality medal with a nice stainless steel chain and offer it as a "get well present?"

Just a couple of ideas. The green scapular WORKS, but it may take awhile. You have to leave it in Our Lady's hands. :-)

Great news.  My father had a few inches of his large intestine remove to get rid of colon cancer, and it worked perfectly for him; there was no sign of its returning until he died of congestive heart failure about 10 years later at the age of 92.

I've always been a little suspicious of the Green Scapular, thinking that it does sound a bit superstitious, like a magic charm, that works ex opere operato somehow.  But then my sister-in-law married a rather zealous Prot (son of a preacher), and at one point she started putting the Green Scapular under his mattress, and a little while after she started doing it, he just came out of the blue and for the first time ever said that he was interested in Catholicism.  He converted and was received into the Church (Eastern Rite).

I will consider that Anne, thank you. I know I hid one in my wife's pillow years ago lol (no results yet, aside from being less hostile to my Faith). I'll see about hiding one around my dad's house or maybe offer it to him next chance I get one. Given that he's recovering pretty quickly (all things considered), prayers are certainly helping

Yeah, he had some of his large intestine removed, as well as his appendix. And then they flushed his abdominal cavity with some sort of chemo concoction to nuke any other possible tumors. Just saw him a couple of minutes ago and he's crabby but doing much better.

After this he still won't be out of the woods because they'll have to turn back to treating his multiple myeloma. So please keep the prayers coming! :incense:

And a change of diet and fasting is good for cancer too.

May God bless you and keep you
