I hear an allegation from a credible source,(not some hobo on the street or a crazy old woman) and I think to myself "hmm , we should investigate this". Now If Thuc was alive we could approach him. But he's not.
What's that, you can't investigate the baseless allegation? There you go again inadvertently admitting that there is no positive doubt

I've told you before, if you are truly interested in "investigating", you could attempt to find the author of the The Angelus piece and ask him about the alleged letter. If anyone could prove its existence, it would probably be him

I am writing to say I will not respond to Mr. Tom anymore, because I do not believe he is being rational.

Our Lord knows what I truly think, and that is good enough for me. Thank you to the people who have given intelligent and well-mannered responses. I'll let the men handle this if they deem it worth their time.

As the saying goes, "Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur...except, of course, when it has to do with someone I don't like" ::)

No reasonable person would take an allegation with no proof to constitute positive doubt. However, Tom is not a reasonable person

No letter exists = no positive doubt

Tom denies the efficacy of the Sacrament Christ instituted. Why does Tom do that?

It's a possibility of a positive doubt. Which one must investigate. But because the only way verify is to interview the man. It now becomes a positive doubt. Because it is unresolved.

A wise man knows to avoid, over something so serious as the validity of the Sacrament. A fool rushes in.
