Happy Feast Day of Saint Edward the Confessor!

From the celebrated work of Dom Prosper Guéranger, Abbot of Solesmes, The Liturgical Year: Time after Pentecost - Book V (trans. Dom Laurence Shepherd; Westminster, MD: The Newman Press, 1949), here is a commentary of this great Benedictine luminary upon the Feast Day of Saint Edward, King and Confessor.

May the celestial tutelage and patronage of this greatest of English Kings bring about the conversion of England together with all other Anglophone nations and regions, and may his intercession avail unto the restoration and acknowledgement of the social kingship of Christ the King.

This is the reason why Our Lady of the Rosary at Fatima chose the Feast Day of Saint Edward the Confessor, the King whose virginal purity heroically exemplified the modesty of which Our Lady spoke to the holy shepherd children, as the day wherein to show forth her great prodigy of the terpsichorean sun: to show that, just as both soul and body must be subject unto Jesus through Mary, so both Church and State are to be subject to Jesus through Mary.[/u]

From the late Cardinal Schuster's work The Sacramentary (Liber Sacramentorum): Historical and Liturgical Notes on the Roman Missal (vol. V.; trans. Arthur Levelis-Marke & W. Fairfax-Cholmeley; New York: Benziger Brothers, 1930), here is a commentary upon the Mass for the Feast of Saint Edward, King and Confessor.

You can visit the Shrine of St.Edward the Confessor in the Westminister
Cathedral.
It is a miracle that this Shrine was not destroyed by the protestants
as the Shrine of St.Thomas Becket was destroyed.
