Remember, Pope St. Pius X had to combat Modernism, the "synthesis of all heresies" around the turn of the century. Look at the date of this publication -- 1874. This is probably a modernist work, though I don't have the leisure to look into this personally.
"It is amazing that history has not embalmed for us even one certain or definite saying or circuмstance in the life of the Saviour of mankind ... there is no statement in all history that says anyone saw Jesus or talked with him. Nothing in history is more astonishing than the silence of contemporary writers about events relayed in the four Gospels."
(The Life of Christ, Frederic W. Farrar, Cassell, London, 1874)
Just remember -- we have Cardinals and Bishops who make statements against Our Lord's Resurrection -- so this is a serious heresy! If Bishops can fall for this nonsense, we must all be on our guard against Modernism.
Pray to Our Lady, especially by means of her Rosary -- she will surely keep us all on the way of truth. We have to grow in all sorts of virtues (including humility) to keep our faith intact against the onslaught of the World, the Flesh and the Devil.
Beyond that, I would advise everyone to keep sight of the BIG PICTURE. Read some good Catholic (pre-Vatican II) works of apologetics -- learn the truths of the Faith and how to defend it against worn-out errors.
Keep in mind that when they try to rip down Christ's Church, they only do so in order that chaos and Hell can reign in its place. They offer no reasonable, convincing, or beautiful alternative. It's obvious they are merely working for their master, the Father of Lies, Satan himself. He wants souls, remember, and he's willing to work for them.
Think about it for a minute (preferably an hour or two). What becomes of all the men who leave the practice of the Catholic Faith? What religion do they practice? Are they happier? Better men?
Usually they practice no religion, because they know instinctively that Protestantism is nonsense, generic "Christian fellowships" are a joke, etc. They usually quit the Catholic Faitih because it's "too hard" for their weak will. They are wimps in the spiritual order. Any other reason they give for leaving is a lame excuse!
They usually practice no religion at all, and simply indulge in a vice or two (or twenty) that they didn't allow themselves while they were a Catholic. They usually feel VERY unfulfilled and unhappy, and have problems with angry outbursts, etc.
Wouldn't you, if your conscience bothered you all the time?
