  • How does one chose a novena for a particular intention? Does it really matter? I'm looking for a novena for someone whom I'm hoping will be open to the grace of God in seeing the faith more completely. But I'm a little scared to go around the internet looking for one. Any suggestions?

  • Well, there are many Saints out there to whom to pray for such an intention.

The Little Flower, whom the Roman Pontiff proclaimed as the celestial Patroness of Missions, would be a good Saint. Consult the following thread: http://www.cathinfo.com/catholic.php/The-Little-Flower

Of course, you know how efficacious the Miraculous Infant of Prague is, so why not have recourse to His divine intervention.

Also, making a novena in honor of the person's Angel-Guardian would be also good.

The best way to make a Novena is to say the Holy Rosary throughout nine consecutive days, together with acts of mortification and charity. The Holy Rosary, as Sister Lucia said, has been given great power in our days, perhaps thanks to the Consecration of the human race to the Immaculate Heart of Mary that Pope Pius XII made in virtue of his supreme authority over the round orb of the earth as the Vicar of Our Lord. I believe this consecration is still in effect and shall always be, just like the Consecration Pope Leo XIII made of the human race to the Sacred Heart. That perhaps enabled the world to receive the graces necessary to become less unworthy of the visit of Our Lady of Rosary at Fatima, and her promulgation of the grand epitome of great simplicity and practicality of Divine Revelation as found in the Holy Scriptures, particularly the Gospels and the Epistles, and in sacred Tradition as taught by Holy Mother Church.

So, I would go for a Rosary Novena in honor of Our Lady, Queen of Angels, that she might command the Angel-Guardian of the person in question to illumine his/her mind and open it to the light of faith.

    Just my two cents!
Please ignore all that I have written regarding sedevacantism.

  • If there was a St. Thomas novena, I would try that. He had to touch the wounds of Christ to believe.

But great advice by Hobble, as usual. That would be a very good novena he outlined..a very intense novena.  :reading:

  • The Novena to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel is another great one, I say that one once a month.
Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

  • I see that you've already started one but for future reference the 54 day Rosary Novena has always been a powerful favorite here.

    http://www.prayerflowers.com/54DayNovena.htm

This website is hard on the eyes, the pics are a little tacky AND they add the Luminous Mysteries   but it's the only place I could find the actual prayers (minus what they made up for the luminous mysteries) in a quick search. I have several little booklets but wow I didn't realize how hard it would be to find resources online even to buy the booklet.

  • Here's the booklet on Amazon

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/on.com/gp//ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=on.com/gp/&linkCode=as2&tag=httpwwwchanco-20

I should probably clarify that the booklet prayers and meditations are not necessary to the novena but they make a huge difference in the devotion and level of concentration on the novena imo. They add that extra level ofbeauty and commitment to the novena.

  •   Wallflower, does the 54 day novena need to be said with the exact petition prayer as the link says? also with a Hail Mary before the Apostles Creed?

  • Hi Spouse! No those prayers and meditations are not necessary to the novena, they simply add a great element. The main thing is the rosary and saying it 3 x 9 days in petition (27 days) and 3 x 9 days of thanksgiving (27 days) to equal 54 days of prayer.

    Thanks Wallflower! :)

No problem :) Once I searched in google I found a bit more so it wasn't as hard as I thought, I just wasn't searching properly at first.
