  • I've heard before that you aren't supposed to name your Guardian Angel unless you suspect him to be one of the Archangels, who of course are named. Is this true? Does anyone have any information on this? Thanks in advance.

    God Bless.

  • Well, I gave my own guardian angel a name at the recommendation of a friend of mine. If it helps you get closer to your guardian angel, I'm sure he wouldn't mind.

In regards to being a responsible man, would it be interesting to learn, after six years of accuмulating all the wisdom you could, that you had it right all alon

  • Would someone really get an archangel as a guardian? I thought it would be left for different angels...

  • Well, there are seven of them, so that means that only seven people who have ever walked the Earth could be given an archangel.

Actually, seven people at any one time currently walking the Earth would currently have an archangel. Unless Angel Guardians have an expiration date on how many persons they are able to guard over

  • I think that guardian angels only watch over one person and then their duty to God is done regarding that. I don't think angels are recycled. I believe there are actually more angels then there have ever been humans to have walked the Earth.

From what I read years ago, it is my understanding that only special saints and sometimes certain members of the Church hierarchy will receive an Archangel as a guardian angel.

St Frances of Rome and Ste Jeanne d'Arc both had St Michael given to them as an angel guardian.

Yes, and let's not forget that St. Gabriel was Our Lady's guardian angel while She was on earth!

What of naming your guardian angel though? Is it wrong, or is that just some opinion?

I think St.Michael was the guardian angel over the whole Holy Family, in addition to each of them in particular.

I've never heard anyone say that it's wrong to do so, so I think it's an opinion.

    I named mine.

  • Hmm, well it appears that I might be wrong then. Perhaps it is only archangels that watch over more than one person? I guess it cannot be known for certain.
