This youth sounds well-intentioned -- indeed I have no problem with him, per se -- but I must criticize his idea.
This boy doesn't seem to know the true state of the Church -- he doesn't understand what Fɾҽҽmαsσɳɾყ is, the machinations of the Jєωs against the Church, etc.
But most of all, he is naive to think that he can change the Novus Ordo seminaries from within. Just read "Goodbye, Good Men" to see what life is REALLY LIKE for good men like him who want to be merely ORTHODOX (in the good, doctrinal sense) CATHOLIC PRIESTS -- not necessarily "Traditional", just believing "what the current Pope teaches" -- even THEY are persecuted in many Novus Ordo seminaries!
Good seminarians are forced to pray the rosary in secret, etc. and in some cases, ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖity is present.
As for his idea that he'll be a devout, excellent, Catholic Novus Ordo priest -- maybe he will -- but he would have to leave the Novus Ordo. Why do I say that? I'm taking the word of 17 different priests who tried to do JUST THAT!
Read the book "Priest, Where is Thy Mass" to read the stories of Novus Ordo priests who wanted to be good priests -- and they couldn't even say both Masses -- they had to go 100% Tridentine Mass. They felt like "to be a good priest, I couldn't say the Novus Ordo. I started feeling like a real Priest when I said the Tridentine Mass..." etc.
Taken from "another Catholic forum":
My friends, here's something to think about.
As Traditional/Conservative Roman Catholics, we are natuarally wishing for more and more men to enter seminaries like the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter to be ordained as "Traditionalist priests". Which is good. But here's my bit.
Let's face it. When the world/non-Catholics/even some Catholics looks at the "Catholic Church", they don't see the FSSP, they don't see Tridentine Latin Masses, they don't see women wearing their veils at Mass, they don't see nice, clean cut altar boys(unless their looking at the Vatican), the majority of the time they don't hear sacred, traditional music- they see the Novus Ordo. They see the Novus Ordo Mass. They see Altar girls. They hear Protestant type music with guitars and marracas. They see sloppy, unprofessional priests. They see and hear a Mass that looks like a circus.
My friends, we have to change the Church from the inside out. We should pray that traditional, conservative men enter Novus Ordo seminaries and be ordained as Novus Ordo priests. Then they can truly change the Church. They can transform parishes. Mold their parishoners. Be a face in the common Roman Catholic Church; a traditional face. It's the traditional ones that make the best priests. And it's the best priests that become the bishops. Yes, that's right, a traditional/conservative priest could become, say, the Archbishop of New York, or the Archbishop of San Francisco.
My brethren, Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz can't do it all by himself.
In fact, that's what I plan to do(I think). I still have a couple of years until I graduate high school. And I have wanted to become a Roman Catholic priest since I was 12. I'm still going strong. I attend a Novus Ordo parish. I attend Novus Ordo Daily Mass; where I altar serve every morning. But I'm one of the most traditional/conservative people you will ever meet. I plan to enter a seminary in a major Archdiocese(like New York) and become a Diocesan priest(or I might enter a religious order, but I'm still thinking about that). And I will be the most traditional Novus Ordo priest you will ever meet. I will wear a cassock. I will try as much as possible to have only boys serving mass in cassocks and surplice. I will make sure the choir sings nice, traditional music. I will make sure everyone genuflects and kneels. I will make sure our parish looks very "Catholic". And I will be damn sure that the Mass I celebrate will truly be "Roman Catholic".
I will offer a weekly Novus Ordo Mass in Latin; perhaps even daily. I will become a Novus Ordo priest, and do every thing Novus Ordo- but I'll do everything so that even the most conservatives Catholics will feel comfortable and at home when they attend Mass at my parish.
Just wanted to share that,
Michael
