Mother Maria Theresia Bonzel (1830-1905), foundress of the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration, was beatified in Paderborn, Germany, on November 10.
Cardinal Angelo Amato, prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, was the principal celebrant at the Mass of beatification, which took place in the cathedral. During his homily, Archbishop Hans-Josef Becker of Paderborn noted that Mother Bonzel’s charism included Eucharistic adoration and service to the needy.
Mother Bonzel visited northern Indiana, where her community has a significant presence, three times.
