  • Well, it could also just have been a slip of the mouse button.  I've occasionally clicked the wrong one before myself, either due to my not-so-good vision or an unintentional mouse click while moving right to left to click the up-thumb.  It's also confusing on a small screen, like a smart phone when the thumbs get smashed together on top of one another.

Very true and that’s a very charitable thought, Lad.  I considered that too, but the offender usually follows up with an explanation. In any event, let’s pray for all the souls mentioned.
For what doth it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and suffer the loss of his own soul? Or what exchange shall a man give for his soul?

  • I agree. I don't care what one's "problem" is; downvoting a pious request to pray for the deceased shows that one is a sorry, sad excuse for a Catholic and I wish that every such person would see how outnumbered they are, get "disgusted" with CathInfo, and leave. They'd make the forum a better place by doing so.

After all, we follow Jesus Christ. We would imitate Him. God is love, specifically the God-like love we call CHARITY. I see the opposite of Charity evidenced in such downvoting.

Some people just have very low self-awareness when it comes to their spiritual state -- the state of their soul -- the state of their soul before God.

But by all means, please Mr. Downvoter, please tell us why we shouldn't pray for "Father Joseph Collins". I have no idea who he is, but he has an immortal soul and was apparently a priest of God. He is not a devil, and thus it is pious and good to wish and pray for his salvation. Catholics generally are to assume that a given departed soul is in Purgatory and pray for him accordingly.

Thanks Matthew. For the record, Father Collins was one of the nine priests who were dismissed from the SSPX by Archbishop Lefebvre. Despite the popular misunderstanding, the nine were NOT removed from the SSPX because of sedevacantism. This is disproved by the fact that Father Collins did not hold the position until after the split.

  • Let’s pray for Matthew O’Hare.  If he is in Pugatory, I’m sure he would be grateful.  I was reminded of him today.
I totally missed that he died...

    Requiescat in pace!

Father Collins was one of the best traditional Catholic priests whom I have ever known...

Unlike most traditional clergy, there is no person that I know of who had an issue with him.

He was a nice jolly, friendly priest llike Friar Tuck from the old Robin Hood Series made in the 40's.  He did everything he could to help souls and everyone who knew him loved him dearly.

May he rest in peace!
