As late as March 17,A.D.2004, in Redemptionis Sacrmentum it states in Chapter 5-3:120 that linens are to be laundered in the traditional way:  that is, the priest first washes/rinses the linens and pours the water into the sacrarium or into the ground in a suitable place.  After this a second washing can be done in the usual way."
Having assisted the nuns in the 1950's there were not any specifications as to brand of soap etc and linens were laundered in the machine.  After the first washing treat the linens as you would for the type of fabric they are including using bleach etc.
