  • When I confessed to having received two jabs, I said that I had sinned against the fifth commandment by consuming substances that were harmful to my body, and also that I had participated in the sin of abortion by using substances that had been obtained through the use of cells from abortions

Because I didn't know the priest's opinion on covid "vaccines", and therefore I wanted to confess it without using the word "vaccine" or jav to avoid having a bad time.

I also confessed to having indulged the thought (for a few seconds) of taking the mark of the beast  and then repenting. But without mentioning the term, confessing to having consented to the thought of abusing God's mercy by sinning gravely trusting in forgiveness. Because I thought it was going to be a little weird.

Is this confession valid? I think so, I confessed the sin in kind and number, but without giving too many details.
I'm probably not very good at confession but you cite the commandments in confession?

Why wouldn't you just say you got the vaccine and let the priest decide?  He's the one giving the absolution so if he doesn't think it's a sin he's still going to absolve you of your sins.

I would not cite the commandments in Confession. There is no need. You confess in order to have your sins forgiven. Just state your sins simply, not the commandment that has been broken (the priest already knows this).
Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

Some penitents cite the Commandments for their own better recollection and awareness, not for the priest's.  It's not about what the priest "needs."  The sacrament is for us penitents, not for him (when he's acting as confessor).

  • Yes, this from Yeti.

We had a sermon on this not too long ago. The priest does not want to ask a lot of questions but some of the reasons he gave for asking questions, is because the penitent is vague, does not have the format down pat so they forget when their last confession was, and/or how many times.

He said when the children are young, the parents should do what the nuns used to do - play the part of the priest in the confessional with their children to make sure their children know well and always use the proper format because  that helps to make the whole unpleasant experience better for the child and they will use the proper format the rest of their lives - making confession less intimidating.

If I would have told my parents when I was a teen that the priest asked too many questions, they most likely would have seen to it that I went to confession more frequently, and depending on the priest, they'd likely make me go to the priest I that complained about.

It is always an act of humility to confess our sins and whoever doesn't like it, well, that's just too bad. If you don't want a lot of questions, either don't commit sins or take the time in the confessional to confess your sins complete enough so the priest has no reason to ask questions.

The OP is a good example that beating around the bush is the way to make the priest ask questions.

You do not need to concern yourself with gentle wording, you come right out and tell the priest that you received the vaccine that uses aborted babies 2 times. You tell him you did it with full volition if that's the case, or that you were unsure if it was right or wrong if that's the case - let him be the judge, that's what he does. Either way, the rule is that you are to leave very little room for questions, do this and you will have made a good confession every time.
Well I gonig to do that this Friday.

  • Some priests we have found, especially sspx priests, ask too many questions in the confessional, especially of teens.  My teens refuse to go to confession with an sspx priest any longer.
One of my teens tried confession with an sspx priest again.  My teen spoke with me about it privately afterwards.  The teen did the format correctly, so there was no need for questions but the priest asked way too many questions.
