Has anyone noticed that since vatican 2, when speaking of purgatory, most non traditional Catholics only speak of purification but with no mention of temporal punishment or satisfaction? The "new catechism" mentions a state of purification after death for those who arent holy enough to enter heaven yet basically but again no mention of punishment or satisfaction. Besides the obvious modernistic way of thinking about a God who doesnt punish, I think some of it has to do with ecuмenical nonsense with the Orthodox who like to reject the idea of temporal punishment and satisfaction as a Roman error. Many non traditional Catholic voices say to easterners that all you have to believe is that there's a place or state of purification for the imperfect who have been saved before entering heaven. This doesn't seem complete to me. The dogmas on purgatory from Florence for example specifically mention temporal punishment and satisfaction, not just cleansing. Many eastern Catholic seem to reject this too. I'd post links to the dogma but I don't know how to do that sort of stuff from my phone. My laptop stopped working. Any thoughts?
