Some say it's getting better, but over all I'd say it's becoming worse in a lot of places(Parts of Houston included). So many places are being evacuated. The mayor of Houston said that in total, the shelters now have 5,500 people occupying them. That does not include those staying with friends, people who have been bussed to other parts of TX, etc. He expects the shelters numbers to increase substantialy today...

    .
I've heard two disturbing reports -- one said residents of Corpus Christi who evacuated, some are going to return home to find their home is gone. The other said that parts of Houston and nearby areas will be uninhabitable for at least 3 months.

  • Thank you all for prayers, their water is receding and did not get into the house. I think they have one more day of rain before they can be certain the house won't be damaged but it looks promising. It was a very close call!

    Thank you all.

  • Spoke too soon :(  They had to evacuate early this morning but are safely in LA.  We are going Saturday to pick up DIL and grandkids and bring them back to AZ.  My son must stay for work (he works in LA)  and will be staying with co-workers for the time being.

We'll be taking I-20 to Shreveport and it's looks like a clear shot, then dropping down to Lafayette and meet them there.
Please pray for a safe trip.

  • I haven't looked at the news today, so I don't know how widespread this is, but be aware that gasoline might be an issue. Many stations around us have run out of gas today.

  • Yes, I saw that.  We're looking at flying DIL and kids out of New Orleans if he can get them there.

  • Yes, there is a severe shortage of petrol even in Houston and surrounding areas, especially since the punps are filled with water....

  • God is good.  Many prayers of thanksgiving going up to heaven because I was able to get DIL and g-kids out from New Orleans on Sunday, Southwest Airlines is wonderfully helpful.  That leaves my son free to do what he has to do w/o worrying about them.

Their town was given a mandatory evacuation order this afternoon but they left this morning so I'm glad they left when they did.

Thank you Lord.

And thanks to all of you who kept them in your prayers. :applause:
