I used the word "penance" because of Our Lady of Fatima's call for penance but indulgences are a form of penance of course.

For the indulgences, how do you handle praying for the Pope's intentions?

Pray for the intentions of the Chair of Peter. Pray for a valid Pope that will honor God.

As a personal thing... Try fasting more. Try eating less for the intention of abortion being stopped at the Supreme Court.  Mary is a mother and will like this. Just an idea and it's a special thing for her that is easy but helps chasten you and please God. An easy way to do this is to just have a slightly heavier dinner and light breakfast but no other meals. Whenever you feel a pang of hunger think of Mary.

As for the Raccolta... Aim for Plenary Indulgences often and it's not a bank account but a treasure trove. Also consider things like Beads for the Dead... That soul you free from Purgatory will always remember that kindness and render intercession for you. As a rule I figure that praying for others is probably better than praying for myself. If I'm focused on helping others and just trust in God's providence it's going to work out. Also worth thinking about is the Heroic Act... Something to meditate on for sure and take extremely seriously but is also a thing that you can do to achieve a higher degree of perfection.

Stations of the Cross is the oldest devotion in the Church according to Anne Catherine Emmerich. Our Lady and the apostles and disciples prayed them immediately following Our Lord's death, even on the night of Good Friday, immediately following Our Lord's death Our Lady visited every spot.

Agreed.  The Beads for the Dead is a fast way to gain 60 years indulgence for the Poor Souls.
