  • Our SSPX mission in Manhattan is finally having Mass again, starting this Sunday (though I am travelling so I will miss the first week). I will be able to go to Mass again finally. I only went to one SSPX Mass since they cancelled Masses when someone was willing to drive me out to the Long Island SSPX chapel. We have to sign up and seating is limited to 25 people. And we have to wear a mask.
    R.I.P.
Please pray for the repose of my soul.

  • Yay. The sspx in Manhattan has caved into communism with restricted attendance and sign in so the names can go to the communist government.  I wonder if that parish took stimulus silver?   Yippee wear your mask for two hours and offer it up to who?  Jesus touched lepers. lol

And they just reopened??   That is lame.
How big is the chapel?  25 people is a joke. Manhattan is huge city.

May God bless you and keep you

I heard (from one of the laypeople at the Long Island chapel) that its because the building is small and they weren't able to distance. But we don't distance on Long Island either.  But I imagine New York city is a lot more oppressive than out here.

I wondered if they just expected people in the city to drive out to either Farmingville (which is where I go) or Connecticut.

The government wants to know how to find you.

    The SSPX will help them.

They did that here too for a while, but people were awake, and kept attending masses they were not assigned to.

    It stopped.

Huh, I believe its the same priest in NYC as on Long Island, but I haven't seen anything like this at the parish on Long Island.

  • I mean they did have visitors sign in very early on, when a lot of people were still scared, but not any time remotely recently, and in the past couple months we've had multiple church lunches... nobody distances, most people don't wear masks either.

Yet I'm hearing these things about NYC which is strange to me since its very different than anything I've experienced here.

According to this SSPX website, things are a bit different in NYC and Long Island:

Yeah I check there regularly.  Though the site claims that we're supposed to be social distancing even here, probably for op sec reasons, because we don't do it and the priest doesn't expect anyone to do it.  Most people don't mask either.

  • I am travelling this weekend so I will not be at Mass. But starting next week I will be attending Mass. I will let the forum know if the masking and signing up are enforced. I know from the one time I went to Long Island that masking is not enforced there. But in Manhattan we are in a rented room the size of a large living room and with 25 people we would be sitting close together, as in normal times there is room for about 35 people sitting down. So there would be no social distancing.

I go to the parish on Long Island.  Gimme a heads up if you ever come down there again so I can say hi.

And yeah, no mask BS on Long Island.

OK. I don't often go there (I have been there twice in ten years). Most likely I would go there on a holy day of obligation as in Manhattan the only holy day we have Masses is Christmas. But if you are ever going to Mass in Manhattan let me know as well. It would be neat to meet someone from Cathinfo.

Not saying never, but definitely not until this Covid BS ends, and also Manhattan is kinda far.  Def will give you a heads up if I'm ever there.

  • Sorry, Matteo for being hard on you.  I understand your excitement for Mass and sacraments. I am just sick of of all this communism.  I’m sick of the biggest traitors.

We had a Eucharistic Procession this last Sunday and we prayed and offered it for those who could not be at Mass.
We’ve been able to continue going to Sunday Mass through all of this covid nonsense (although with a couple of months restricted attendance but they doubled the Masses to accommodate)
I continue to urge those attending any Masses to offer each one for those who could not be there.
God bless you Matto, I am happy for you to get to be with Jesus again

  • I actually got home early and was able to go to Mass. People were masked. I think the place that rents us the room requires it. And they took people's temperature when they came in. So it is a bit paranoid. The Mass went off well, but there was no trained server so it was awkward watching the priest try to manage with a young man who meant well but didn't know what he was doing try to serve the Mass. He did ring the bells at the right times, but otherwise he had trouble, and he didn't know the responses.
