    • After mass today (CMRI) I was talking to my friend about the Holy Face Chaplet devotion and when Father was exiting the chapel I thought he could explain it better than I could because I am still new to the devotion. Father warned me that The Devotion to the Holy Face was condemned by a decree but I couldn't find anything that says it was.

    In 1884, Pope Leo XIII approved the Arch-confraternity of the Holy Face. Christ revealed to Sister St Pierre that this initiation of the Holy Face devotion is “the birth of the most beautiful work that has yet appeared on the face of the earth.” [1] He further relates that this reparative work is “His greatest consolation” and “the only means of appeasing the Father.”-https://www.prayinglatin.com/the-holy-face-chaplet/

    Do you think Father maybe confused this devotion with Divine Mercy?

    • Yes, I hope that Fr was confused with the Divine mercy.  The Holy Face devotion is definitely approved.  

    Now…maybe the CHAPLET is newer, but the litany is old and approved.  Actually I’ve never heard of the Holy Face chaplet…there’s plenty of other prayers to the Holy Face which are approved.

    • Devotion to the Holy Face was never condemned.

    After the first photographs of the shroud were taken, Celine Martin, sister of St Therese the little flower, obtained the photographic plates and painstakingly with a magnifying glass sketched the lifesize Face of Jesus.

    This picture was presented to Pope St. Pius X, and he was so taken with it that he placed an indulgence on this image for anyone who would gaze upon it in compassion. the indulgence of... "the same as all the indulgences granted by all the popes to the Crown of the Five Wounds"
    This picture of Celine's hangs in every Carmelite convent.

    Note at the bottom left it reads  Carmel d Liseux
    And at the bottom right it reads  1904

    It is very hard for me to believe that Our Lord said anything so ridiculous. I'm not surprised this was condemned. Supposed revelations that contains these kinds of ludicrous exaggerations are usually false.

    Sorry, I don't know anything beyond what I read in your OP, but since your priest knows something about this, I would recommend asking him for more information.
