  • Happy Feast Day of the Most Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ!

May the Most Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ, by the maternal patronage and tutelage of the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary, vouchsafe Holy Mother Church the liberty and exaltation that becomes such an immaculate Spouse of this same only-begotten Son of the Eternal Father, Who formed her from the Sacred Wound of His Sacred Heart, "just as from Adam's side, Eve, his wife, was brought forth: for just as God caused the woman to be created from the side of Adam, so also Christ from His own side gave us water and blood from whence He formed His Church" (St. John Chrysostom).

May the faithful who adhere to the one, holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church be coadunated in the unity of the confession and practice of the holy Faith, living always by grace in the depths of that Sacred Wound of the Sacred Heart, which Our Lord "opened that therein might, as it were, be thrown open the door of life, whence have flowed forth the Sacraments of the Church, without which there is no entrance into life that is truly life" (St. Augustine).

  • Here is a commentary upon the Mass for the Feast of the Most Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ, taken from the late Cardinal Schuster's The Sacramentary (Liber Sacramentorum): Historical and Liturgical Notes on the Roman Missal (vol. IV, trans. Arthur Levelis-Marke; New York: Benziger Brothers, 1929).

  • From the great Rev. Father Cornelius  J. Ryan's The Epistles of the Sundays and Festivals with an Introduction, Notes and Moral Reflections, (Vol. II; Dublin: M. H. Gill and Son, Ltd., 1932), here is a commentary upon the Epistle lesson for the Mass of the Feast of the Most Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ, which is the same appointed for the Mass of Passion Sunday.
