  • Today I met a man who is a recent convert to the Faith. He had made his own rosary using freshwater pearls and amethyst beads, a gold crucifix and a solid gold heart pendant for a center. Very creative.

I told him about a story I had read, that St. Louis-Marie had used his rosary to draw subjects into the faith, by putting his rosary over their head and gently pulling them close to him. I recall seeing that he claimed he had never been unable to draw someone into the faith using this means. But I don't recall where I read it, and I hope I'm not getting him mixed up with someone else or something like that.

The man with the handmade rosary was very interested in the story. He wanted to know more. I told him that his rosary is probably too small to fit over someone's head, but there was a very large rosary hanging on a display board in plain view, so I said, "this one is plenty big for this purpose." I have always wondered what size St. Montfort's rosary was to be able to put it over someone's head.

The man was interested in the idea because he wants to draw his daughter closer to the holy Faith. I get the feeling that he knows what he's talking about. I certainly hope it works out for him. I recommended that he reads St. Louis-Marie's book, True Devotion to Mary. He got a copy as we were speaking, so he'll have read that by the time we meet again.
