  • Happy Feast Day of St. Jean-Baptise-Marie Vianney, Curé d'Ars!

May the patronage and tutelage of St. Jean-Baptise-Marie Vianney, celestial Patron of Parish Priests, avail unto each Priest throughout the Catholic world a ceaseless increase of those graces necessary for the decorous and competent fulfillment of the grave and onerous duties of their sacred vocation, most especially an Apostolic zeal for souls augmented and ever purified all the more by a spirit of magnanimous self-detachment and prayerful self-immolation in union with Our Lord, the Eternal High Priest.

From the The Saint Andrew Daily Missal with Vespers for Sundays and Feasts by Dom Gaspar Lefebvre, O.S.B., of the Abbey of St- André (Bruges, Belgium: Liturgical Apostolate of the Abbey of St-André, 1956), here is the Collect for the Mass of the Feast of St. Jean-Baptise-Marie Vianney:

  • From the tome Kyrie Eleison: Two Hundred Litanies with Historico-Liturgical Introduction and Notes by Rev. Fr. Benjamin Francis Musser, O.F.M. (Westminster, MD: The Newman Bookshop, 1944), here is a Litany in honor of St. Jean-Baptise-Marie Vianney.

I'm trying to get breviary.net back up.  Father Bernard Hall said they've made some changes, so that is probably why it's not working.  DivinumOfficium is also very good--but without the pictures!  Some of these websites could really use some donations for all the work they do to uphold Tradition.  Including Matthew!

  • If any who read this thread would say a prayer to St Jean, patron of parish priests, for my son, a parish priest, I would grateful.  And so would he.
Stir up within Thy Church, we beseech Thee, O Lord, the Spirit with which blessed Josaphat, Thy Martyr and Bishop, was filled, when he laid down his life for his sheep: so that, through his intercession, we too may be moved and strengthen by the same Spir

Yes, I actually did have your son in mind, which is I invoked the tutelage and patronage of the great St. Jean-Baptiste-Marie Vianney for "each Priest throughout the Catholic world," which embraces both the Latin Occident and the multitude of Oriental Churches who profess inviolate the Catholic faith in these tumultuous and quizzical times. The Catholicity of the Church of Christ is intimately connected to its Apostolic origin, so that all the clergy of the Roman Rite, the Byzantine Rite, etc., are ultimately united by reason of this ineffable bond of Apostolic Orders.

Thanksgiving be to God and His Blessed Mother.

Thank you for giving Holy Mother Church a Priest to administer the Sacraments and shepherd the faithful of Christ's one, true fold.

And thanks to your son, for having persevered in his sacred vocation to the Holy Priesthood.
