Pax et bonum!
I have a Tertiaries' Manual from the '40s that is in like-new condition; I paid fifty cents for it at a rummage sale. It is one of my most cherished possessions.
Encountering the life of St. Francis of Assisi literally changed my life, and through all of the ups and downs, through my time as a Protestant 'minister', even through times when I wanted nothing to do with church or religion, Francis was there, his humility and utter devotion to Our Lord made it impossible for me to believe that it wasn't possible to love God in this world.
It's a real shame that the Novus Ordo has tried to re-imagine Francis as some ecuмenical tree-hugging New Age mystic; those who are so profaning God's churches these days would be shocked to know that Francis would have accepted NONE of the indifferentism and especially none of the corruption he would see in their ranks if he were here today.
St. Francis of Assisi, lover of Christ in the poor, pray for us.
St. Anthony, hammer of heretics, terror of Hell, pray for us.
St. Bonaventure, Seraphic Doctor, pray for us.
St. Clare of Assisi, handmaiden of the poor Christ, pray for us.
We adore Thee, O Christ, and we bless Thee, because by Thy Holy Cross Thou hast redeemed the world.
