The head of St. Galgano was found to be incorrupt, decapitated, and processed. It was known as the Magedline, and said to grow hair and have miraculous healings. The Cistercians were founded by St. Bernard of Claeurveux, himself once a knight, in France. St. Bernard of Claeirveux was a prominent figure in the crusades and he publically backed the Templars. His Uncle was a founding member of the Knights Templar. After Galgano's death the Cistercians proclaimed him a Cistercian Saint, and were the ones in possession of the Magdeline. The Relic was moved from location to location to protect it from Holy Theives, and it is quite possible that the Templars would have performed this duty as they were active in the Sienna region, and they were closely linked to the Cistercians. What is interesting is that the Accusation against the Templars by King Phillip was that of them worshipping a mysterious bearded head. The persecuition of the Templars is perhaps the reason that the Legends of King Arthur are world known while knowledge of St. Galgano remains localized. The death of King Phillip itself perhaps from a Templar curse, started the war of succession which ended with the arrival of Joan of Arc, and the crowning of the Valois King Charles.
