  • Is genuflecting when sprinkled with holy water during the Asperges/Vidi Aquam the custom or not? It happens at my chapel but it's like... half do, half don't, so I'm confused as to what it really is.

    Thanks and God bless

  • Same at one chapel I attend.  However, we do have to keep in mind that there are no strict rubrics that the laity are required to perform at Mass, so it would be most correct to say that there is not really a strict tradition either way.

  • Are people actually genuflecting or are they kneeling, albeit very briefly?
If memory serves we knelt whenever the priest was going to bless us so maybe they are kneeling, just rather awkwardly.
