It still says "obituary pending" on the Mueller funeral home website.

While there is still no obituary posted, the funeral home has posted the service information for Father James Thielen.

Funeral homes don't automatically write obituaries the way a newspaper may put together a news story.  They can compose an obituary from information provided by the family, and then have the family approve it, making alternations as requested.  Families often write the obituary and provide it to the funeral home to put on their website and submit to local papers.  The funeral home is available to proofread and edit the obituary if asked to, but typically nothing is published unless authorized by the family.

I wonder whether, given the funeral home's past care of Bishop Dolan and Father Cekada, someone associated with SGG could supply obituary information, and have them publish an obituary using that.  It's not clear that Father Thielen had any immediate family still living.

Bp McGuire had this to say in this week's bulletin:

Quote
Well, you wouldn’t necessarily know it unless you were among the clergy, but Fr. Thielen was unanimously thought of as the one who was the best at taking care of the sick. That was his special grace, given to him by the Sacred Heart of Jesus. No one was better at it than him. Ask any priest from my generation or the previous generation and you will get the same answer.

I noticed on the funeral home site that it says obituary pending.  Maybe they have one coming but it just isn't ready yet?

May he rest in peace. 🙏
