  • Fr. Constantine was the Byzantine priest who gave me my First Holy Communion, Confirmation, and heard my first Confession when I was six...

I just found out this morning that he died yesterday...

I would be very grateful if you all would say a few prayers for the repose of his soul...

    Resquiescat in pace...

  • And how blessed you were, to have this priest.

It is surely a grace to die on the 1st Day of Advent.

Eternal Rest grant unto him Oh Lord, and may Your Perpetual Light Shine upon him.

  • We knew him. He was one of the kindest priests I know. He was also a very good friend of Solange Hertz and she used to attend his D.L. on Sundays. I regret not being able to attend his funeral on Friday but some of my family will.

My family are I are planning to go...

The Melkite Church where the funeral is taking place sadly has a modernized Byzantine Liturgy.  So, the pastor at our church said that even though we can attend; we can not participate or receive Communion...

I have never been to any sort of Byzantine Funeral before.  So, it will be interesting at any rate.  :-)

If Fr. Constantine was a traditional priest how did he allow this modernist funeral you describe to be "offered" for him? Or maybe Fr. was not traditional but maybe only conservative?

Father Constantine was part of one of the Eastern Rites that become more and more modernized after Vatican II.  When I was a child and received my first Communion it was still rather conservative, but by the time I was 15 or 16 and my family went to a friend's Baptism; it had changed so much that I almost preferred the novus ordo!  (which is saying A LOT!)

Apparently only the Ukrainian Easter Liturgies have been traditionally preserved in the recent decades...

    So sad...
