  • Did anyone receive a letter requesting funds with a handy slip to fill out the amount?  Mine said, "Yes!  I am pround to support Fr. Rostand and the Society of Saint Pius X"?  Why do I want, primarily, to support Fr. Rostand?  Is he now the mascot?  And "pround"???  Yes, it was supposed to say "proud." Why does the SSPX want to foster feeeeelings of pride in the personal generosity of her patrons?  Whatever happened to, "Let not the left hand know what the right hand doeth?"

Sorry!  I put this in the wrong forum!  BTW, I do not personally have anything against Fr. Rostand.
(It would be appreciated if the party who emailed me would reveal him or herself.) The few times I've spoken with him in person, he was most cordial.  It IS possible to oppose another while maintaining respect and Christian charity!

When they say "pround" they're trying to subliminally suggest that you are bound to support the XSPX.

    Why subliminally?  Why not openly?

Well, for one, they would be lying if they said it openly, because you're NOT bound to support it.  But in any event, they don't have any jurisdiction so they can't tell you what you're bound to do and what you're not bound to do.  So subliminal suggestion is all they have to work with, basically.  Maybe they're at their wits' end.
