Prayers are requested for the repose of the soul of Fr. Joseph Melito.

His requiem Mass will be at Our Lady of the Angels parish (SSPX) in Arcadia, CA, Saturday, September 19th at 8:00 am.

Fr. has been a staunch defender of the Traditional Latin Mass for many years, having been expelled from the diocese for his unabashed conservatism.

Another priest, Fr. Sretenovic, who later had gone through similar abusive treatment benefited from Fr. Melito's advice when he said, "When we go to face our particular judgment, we need to be able to show Our Lord our battle scars."

May his soul and the souls of all the Faithful Departed, rest in peace.

  • Thank you for this beautiful tribute, Neil.  Would that we had more priests who wished to present Our Lord with their battle scars.  May our Good God grant us another priest of his caliber.

Eternal rest grant unto Fr. Melito, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.  Grant, we beseech Thee, O Lord, that the soul of Thy servant, Fr. Joseph Melito, Thy priest, whom in this life Thou didst honor with the sacred office, may rejoice in the glory of heaven for evermore.  Amen.
