Pilot threatening to crash plane in Mississippi

https://www.wtva.com/news/plane-threatened-to-crash-in-tupelo-now-reported-near-hickory-flat/article_050bc240-2b82-11ed-9168-07ee994a2459.html

I'm putting this under the prayer forum, as we certainly should pray that this comes to a peaceful end, but there is no other category where it really "fits".

That said, what would be so difficult about dispatching a fighter jet from the state National Guard, escorting the pilot to an isolated area, urging him to land safely, and if all else fails, just shoot him down?

He's clearly a menace to the community, and is threatening mayhem, so it's really no different than if he were holding a crowd at gunpoint.

The local news station (WTVA in Tupelo) is reporting that the plane has crashed.  Talk about final impenitence.

A downvote?  Because of my suggestion that the plane should be shot down?  Does the larger civil society not have a right to defend itself?  Or do we just quake and cower while the miscreants take over?

The TV station is now reporting that the pilot landed the plane in a field, is alive, and is in custody.  Very thankful he did not die in his sins.
