  • Not to insult anyone as if they don't know these things, but to beef up, I am posting the virtues.

    Faith

1814 Faith is the theological virtue by which we believe in God and believe all that he has said and revealed to us, and that Holy Church proposes for our belief, because he is truth itself. By faith "man freely commits his entire self to God."78 For this reason the believer seeks to know and do God's will. "The righteous shall live by faith." Living faith "work through charity."79

1815 The gift of faith remains in one who has not sinned against it.80 But "faith apart from works is dead":81 when it is deprived of hope and love, faith does not fully unite the believer to Christ and does not make him a living member of his Body.

1816 The disciple of Christ must not only keep the faith and live on it, but also profess it, confidently bear witness to it, and spread it: "All however must be prepared to confess Christ before men and to follow him along the way of the Cross, amidst the persecutions which the Church never lacks."82 Service of and witness to the faith are necessary for salvation: "So every one who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven; but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven."83

  • I don't understand the crossed out part, as to why you did it?

It's probably just me, and I am sure you have a point to it.

I probably posted this before on this forum, but will do again.

I have often wondered why Our Lady said, "someday through the rosary and scapular the world will be saved", she did not say someday through the Mass and Sacraments the world will be saved.  Could it be, she was trying to say, the Mass and Sacraments will be eclipsed and all we will have will be our Faith?
    Please pray for my soul.

  • Hmmm!  I just came back to this thread and saw the crossed out parts.  I didn't do it and it's a mystery to me.

  • It does look like a protestant thing to do, doesn't it.  But I didn't notice it was crossed out when I cut it.  Very strange. Let's consider those parts bolded.

  • Here is the link I cut this from:

    http://www.va/archive/catechism/p3s1c1a7.htm

It does not show that the parts were crossed out on this site, nor does it show up when I paste it.  Can anyone explain this?

  • Thank you, henry.  I'm so upset about this.  But when was it high lighted?  When I cut it?

  • There, it did it again and I assure you I pressed no editor button.  Is there a way some nefarious reprobate can do this?  If so, our catechism is being sabotaged.

  •   oh it was done. I really suspected sth demonic.
BTW, does these parts mean that hiding your faith, or simply not speaking everywhere about it is sinful?

  • After quickly answering Spouse I had to run off for labs.  While shivering my way through various complications, I had time to think this through.

Since Spouse has proven that it was some mistake of mine which cause this dilemma, I won't pursue that.  But it may not have been such an "all bad" situation as I first thought.  It did give me an opportunity to asses the recent conflict.  Myrna retained her faith in my good will even in the face of apparent ill will--she didn't know WHY I deleted portions of this text.  I still don't know HOW I did it, but I guess I did it.

The apostles were scandalized in Jesus, too, until they understood.  Still, St. John stuck with Him, as Myrna stuck with me.  That's the definition of a friend.  On the other hand, there are those who will not accept your good will no matter what you do.  It has made me as jumpy as a cat lately.

With my credibility at nil, I couldn't afford such a large boo-boo as this.  I recognize and salute the faith that Myrna retained.   Perhaps there is a lesson in this for all of us.

  • Faith is an exciting virtue.  With just a little one can move mountains.  With a lot perhaps one can move hearts. From The Biography of St. Catherine of Sienna:

This Niccolo Toldo was a young Perugian
noble who was condemned to death by the
Reformers on a more or less vague charge
of conspiracy - either against the safety
    of the Republic, which did not matter much ;
or against their own power, which was a
serious crime* The sentence drove him mad.
Blasphemies and curses ! Grief and rage
and the intolerable sense of impotence were
the only feelings for which he found any
place* He refused ail religious ministrations*
Catherine visited him in prison* and made
    another man of him*

  • Found this in my little book: My Daily Bread by Anthony  Paone, S.J. 1954

About Faith:  "I do not demand great intelligence. I ask only for faith in My words and loyalty to My Will.  I will not deny My grace to any man who is willing to pray and labor for My gift of faith."
    Please pray for my soul.
